- Southern Illinois Art Workshop: Registration is open for SIAW Art Express @ the Depot in Mattoon April 28-30. "We will introduce the teachers and classes in separate postings so you can spend some time exploring your options. You will choose one class to explore over 2 days in the classroom with a qualified instructor. Pastels, Acrylics, and Printmaking will be offered for all ability levels in a supportive atmosphere." (from their Facebook page) A lecture and two lunches are included in your registration of $175. This is going to be Ah-mazing Art Making!

- The Vermilion County Museum, Danville IL is creating a new exhibit to correlate with March
- "The Auschwitz Experience: in the Art of Prisoners" special exhibit.
“The Auschwitz Experience in the Art of Prisoners” exhibit is comprised of 24 panels depicting the artwork of twelve survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp. The 24-panel exhibit showcases 60 pieces that depict the experiences the survivors had during the Holocaust. This showing is the US premiere of the exhibit. The exhibition’s grand opening is Sunday, March 6 at the Vermilion County Museum, located at 116 N. Gilbert Street, Danville.
The grand opening will take place from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. A special opening presentation from 3 to 3:30 p.m. will cover the history of Auschwitz. Music, light refreshments and tours of the exhibit.
Tours are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit closes on March 31.
Children’s Art Programs will be held Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Grades 5-8 (25 in session). Children will be making a 4x4 expression tile after learning about the exhibit. Reservations required through the Museum. There is no charge.
The exhibit is a unique opportunity to educate people about the Holocaust through art created by Holocaust survivors.
